We keep a leisurely pace of about 1 mile per hour with frequent pauses for rest, observation, and discussion. Our routes are designed so you're never more than a few minutes from a bench or sheltered spot. Most walks take 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on group interest and fitness levels.

No special fitness is needed—just the ability to walk comfortably for short distances with breaks. Our Palm House walks are mostly indoors on level surfaces, while arboretum routes have gentle slopes and multiple resting points. If you have specific mobility concerns, let us know when booking and we'll suggest the best route for you.

We reschedule outdoor arboretum walks if there's heavy rain or strong winds—your safety comes first. Palm House walks go ahead regardless since you're sheltered inside the Victorian glasshouse. We'll contact you at least 24 hours before if we need to postpone, and you can reschedule to any future date that suits you.

Absolutely! We welcome companions of any age. Many of our guests bring adult children, grandchildren, or friends who enjoy the botanical focus as much as the gentle pace. Group bookings of 4 or more qualify for a discount—just mention it when you book.

None at all. We explain everything from scratch, whether it's how a Victorian glasshouse controls humidity or why certain tropical trees only grow in specific climates. Our guides love sharing stories about plant origins and history—it's as much about the journey and atmosphere as the facts.

Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip and dress in layers—the Palm House can be quite warm and humid. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen for outdoor sections, and a small bag if you like taking photos. Walking poles are fine if you use them. We'll send detailed preparation notes when you book.
